Four seafarers (two from Korea Shipping, one from Korea Line, and one from SM Line)
from SM Group were selected as the top 10 of Korea's 12,000 seafarers, and were honored to receive
the commendation from the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said on June 25 that it selected
the top 10 seafarers
by evaluating their outstanding capabilities in ship management, maritime accident prevention
and crisis management among Korean seafarers
who have been on board for a long period of time.
* Seafarers' Day was designated as June 25 every year at the IMO International
Maritime Organization meeting
in 2010 to thank seafarers around the world for their hard work.
