Jan 17: Up to 100 drifting containers reported drifting NW of Honolulu, on Jan 17. Containers were lost by MAERSK ESSEN en route from Xiamen to Los Angeles, the ship took a sharp turn southeast after crossing this area. Awaiting confirmation.
Jan 20 UPDATE:
Confirmed it’s MAERSK ESSEN, up to 750 containers may be affected,
either lost or collapsed and damaged. The ship was passing through strong storm
at the time of an accident.
